The Toronto Islands are a chain of 15 small islands in lake Ontario, south of mainland Toronto. Public ferries operate year-round from Jack Layton Ferry Terminal, and the ferry ride is 10 minutes from downtown Toronto. Also operated private water taxis. The use of motor vehicles is limited to City of Toronto government service vehicles (Parks and Recreation, paramedics, etc.). Available are rental bicycles and quadricycles. As the community has no stores and no vehicles or public transportation.
